Casa Vo
Bringing minimalism to life photographically, without losing the quiet of the design.

Bringing a restrained interior into view is harder than it looks: too little contrast and the image goes flat, too much and the calm of the design disappears. For Casa Vo we worked from the lighting design and let texture and composition do the work. The result respects the design rather than dramatising it.
The challenge
Presenting a calm, restrained interior concept without the quiet of the design leading to flat images.
Visual strategy
Light, texture and composition as lead players. A limited colour palette, room for emptiness. Camera choices that respect the design rather than dramatise it.
Impact
A series of images that makes the philosophy of the design visible, understated, considered, never harsh.

— notes
Bringing minimalism to life photographically is harder than it looks. Too little contrast and the image goes flat; too much and the quiet of the design is lost.
For Casa Vo we worked from the lighting design. Which hours of the day do you want to show? How does light hit the wall, and for how long? Which materials call for movement in light rather than movement in the image?
The result is a series in which the design is not performed, but respected.
